Bulgarians can travel visa-free to 168 countries. This is shown by the passport index data, which is compiled by the Swiss consulting company Henley & Partners. Bulgaria is the prestigious 19th place. We have lost one position as compared to 2018. But it doesn`t change our evaluation.. Which is considered excellent. As a result, we are overtaking almost all of our Balkan neighbors.
Compared to neighboring countries
For example, Bulgaria is overtaking almost twice Serbia, which is 41st. Because the Serbian passport gives you visa-free access to 131 countries around the world.
Meanwhile Montenegro and Albania, who hope one day to become members of the EU, are of approximately the same results, 47 and 52 place respectively. They can visit 122 and 113 countries without a visa.
Immediately after Albania is Turkey. Her passport is rated 53 and gives free access to 110 countries. And the last of the Balkan countries is Kosovo. The former Yugoslav republic is 100th. Or that means you can only travel without a visa to only 41 countries.
Bulgaria is overtaken only by Greece, which is in 6th place. Its passport gives the right to visa-free 183 countries. Our eternal partner Romania is up to us. With this country’s passport you can travel to 169 countries around the world.
The first place in the ranking is shared by Japan and Singapore. Citizens of these two countries can visit 189 countries without a visa. Germany, Finland and South Korea are second with 187 countries. The third is Denmark, Italy and Luxembourg with 186 countries. The last place is for Afghanistan. His passport allows to go without a visa in only 25 countries.
From the former Soviet republics, whose citizens visited Bulgaria as a tourist destination, first is Ukraine. The country is ranked 44th with 126 countries that can be visited freely. The next are Russia at 51 position – 116 countries without a visa. Belarus is 69th with 75 countries.
Bulgarian citizenship also brings a number of other advantages due to Bulgaria’s EU membership. From next 2020 Bulgarians will travel without a visa to the United States. Add low taxes, a good standard of living with less money and geographic location, and you will understand why candidates for Bulgarian citizenship are constantly multiplying.
